Naonori Yago
Naonori Yago is an art director/ designer who specializes in work for the art and fashion industries. Working with a variety of materials, he creates dense, layered compositions pulsating with color and light. I’m especially fond of his work for Laforet HARAJUKU in which he created a series of transparent sheets that when combined formed a unified graphic.
Hulse & Durrell
Ben Hulse and Greg Durrell first started working together in 2007 on the Vancouver 2010 Olympic & Paralympic Games and have been busy ever since. In recent months they have been immersed in a thoughtful rebranding of the national curling team. In addition, their latest identity campaign for Swimming Canada has earned them high praise in what Olympic medalist Brent Hayden says is a brand that “honours the past while setting a bold statement for the team going forward”. I couldn’t agree more. Look for a new Hulse & Durrell site launching soon.

Kelly Thorn’s playful type arrangements never fail to delight. A graduate of the Tyler School of Art, she now fills her days creating intricate yet elegant work for the fine folks at Louise Fili’s studio.

Graphic Means
Graphic Means is a new film by Briar Levit, that explores the tools and techniques employed in graphic design. Featuring interviews with Ellen Lupton, Adrian Shaughnessy and many others, the film traces design production methods from its beginnings with mechanical paste-ups and typesetting to its current state. I was excited to discover the work of Joseph Veazey. A graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design, he has since moved onto positions at Adult Swim and Azede Jean-Pierre – an upcoming fashion label based in New York. His illustrations have been featured in American Illustration, Creative Quarterly, CMYK Magazine and Print.
