Ronald Clyne at Folkways

Being an avid collector of records, I’m looking forward to getting my hands on Unit Editions most recent release.

From the website:” Ronald Clyne at Folkways is a 64 page ‘newspaper’ devoted to designer Ronald Clyne’s record covers for the Folkways label. Ronald Clyne (1925 – 2006) designed over 500 album covers for Folkways and is largely responsible for the famous label’s striking visual appearance. His distinctive use of two-color printing on matte paper and his deft use of modernist design strategies, created a body of work that gave the Folkways label its distinctive aroma of integrity and purity.”

It’s amazing, got a copy last week, beautiful, been meaning to post my own shots

Dave, are there any shops in the USA that are carrying them? I would like to get my hands on one.

Got my copy about a week ago. Interesting stuff and well designed. Unit Editions puts out quality pieces with great content.

Hey Mike,
I just emailed Unit Editions to get a list of U.S stores.

I’ll post it here as soon as I know.

No shops in the US as yet. If you buy it off the uniteditions website postage is free worldwide.

That Raimon cover is very similar to Miles Davis’s Miles Smiles, released in 1967. Did Ronald Clyne also do covers for Columbia?

Hello, from Smithsonian Folkways. The “Ronald Clyne at Folkways” Anthology is now available for purchase here: http://bit.ly/c4ISvH

I was interested in this publication after reading about it on Grain Edit. I ordered a copy and received it a few weeks back. Have been meaning to drop a line about how pleased I am with it. I’ve been collecting vinyl for many years and, in addition to collecting particular bands, I have an interest in certain labels and artistic styles. I have a new found appreciation for the Folkways label. Was at a music sale recently and picked up a Pete Seeger Folkways album. Very exciting.
