Edizioni Corraini – Un Sedicesimo magazine
Un Sedicesimo issue #2 – Italo Lupi
Last week we looked at the first part of a package I received from Italian publisher Edizioni Corraini, which included a copy of the Pino Tovaglia book. Today we’ll look at the second part of the package.
Snuggled against the Tovaglia book were 3 issues of Un Sedicesimo magazine. This is the latest venture from Corraini. Each issue has a different author, whose job is to create a sixteen-pages-long project. The website puts it best, “In short, it’s not about speaking of graphics, but making it.” The concept behind the series slightly reminded me of the Nieves titles which I admire as well. The initial launch includes issues from Steven Guarnaccia, Moreno Gentili, Martà Guixé, Leonardo Sonnoli, Francesco Dondina, Federico Maggioni, Daniel Eatock, Paul Cox, Italo Lupi, Massimo Pitis, Gianluigi Toccafondo, Giulio Iacchetti, Esther Lee and Gianluigi Colin.
Of the 3 issues I received (Esther Lee, Italo Lupi and Steven Guarnaccia) my favorite was the Esther Lee. The illustrations were great and I appreciated her use of a limited color palette. Check out the red checkerboard leisure suit her characters are wearing in the pictures below. Sign me up! where do I get one?
